History of The Grey Colt
The Grey Colt name comes from the store's original owners, Pris & Ash Graham and Patty & Stewart Coulton. Its doors first opened in the spring of 1959 in an upstairs space above Isaly's. In 1962 it moved down the street next to Saywell's, where it remains to this day. Patty worked there from the start until 1999, and Katie has been there since the early 1970's. With support from many loyal employees and customers, The Grey Colt has been a Main Street tradition for 50 years.
The store is decorated with antiques and lots of hand-made touches giving it a 'homey' essence. The well known bouquet of Jinny Ellis flowers painted on the front door, a well-worn wingchair and couch to sit in and enjoy the atmosphere, and lots of additional eye candy make the store extremely warm and inviting. We offer a selection of dresses, related separates, unique jackets, sweaters, T-shirts, accessories galore, and a tabletop of shoes. Our sales staff prides themselves on remembering your name, what you like, and items you already have in your wardrobe to ensure you receive the personal and individual attention you deserve when visiting The Grey Colt.
